I'm Allan Smith, and this is me on a good day.
We live on six acres of bush in sunny Tasmania.
My wife of 30 years is a librarian and special-needs teacher, and I
teach science. Four grown up sons, five grandchildren
and a somewhat deranged pug called Angus complete the family.
I like making things. Over the years, I've built four interesting
houses (one with genuine secret passages), four decent workshops,
many musical instruments, a large tablesaw, a bandsaw, various
lathes, a 4-wheel drive tractor and other bits and bobs.
Apart from writing and tinkering in my shed, I enjoy hobby farming,
cycling, home-brewed beer, alternative energy, theology and on-line
forums.
My son Tom painted the panel below. It shows a little person struggling
to bring some light into the world. Most of us, I'm sure, know the feeling.
